Srinagar, Apr 04 (KNO): Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) spokesman Altaf Thakur expressed his gratitude to the Central leadership especially the Union Minister of Home Affairs Amit Shah and Prime Minister Narendera Modi for understand the concerns and needs of people, especially youth of Kashmir and amending the domicile law in the interests of J&K youth. In a statement issued to wire service—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), Thakur said that it was because of the hectic lobbying and efforts of J&K based BJP leaders from top to bottom that the Centre was persuaded to change/ament the domicile law in which all jobs have been kept reserved for the J&K youth in government sector. “The BJP leaders from every nook and corner of J&K UT played a positive role in getting the domicile law amended within the shortest possible time by raising the genuine concerns of J&K youth with the Central leadership like Home Minister Shah and PM Modi,” Thakur said. Thakur while expressing his sincere gratitude to the Central leadership for understanding the concerns of J&K youth, who had pinned huge hopes with the Centre, after roll-back of Article 370, said that it was worth praising that Centre amended the law within 24 hours despite fighting the Covid-19 challenge. The BJP leader said he got dozens of calls from the youth living in various parts of J&K who expressed their feelings and hailed the Centre’s decision of amending the law in their larger interests. Thakur, however, lashed out at some politicians for claiming undue credit of amendments made in the domicile law and stated that many politicians tried to hijack the domicile issue to score political points, but Centre took the frequent and back and to back requests and pleas made by BJP leaders from J&K very serious and announcement pro-youth amendments. He said people should refrain from making issue out of everything for their political gains as that strategy had failed in the past and is destined to fail at present as well as people are wise enough to understand petty politics being played by some politicians in the name of being “J&K’s Apnay loug.”— (KNO)
